Etsy fees UK — the stack that surprises people

Etsy is rarely “one percentage.” A typical UK sale combines:

• A small listing fee (modelled around £0.16) — painful if volume is low.
• Transaction fee around 6.5% of the sale.
• Payment processing around 4% + £0.20 for UK cards.
• A small regulatory operating fee.

• Ads % — promoted listings, boosts, Meta ads or TikTok spend as a share of the sale. Leave 0 if you never promote.
• Return rate — expected % of sales that come back. Fashion often needs 8–15%; electronics less.
• VAT on platform fees — turn on if you cannot reclaim VAT on marketplace fees (typical for many private / non-VAT sellers).
